Awasu » Creating the node VM’s

We now have a base VM that contains everything needed by each machine in a cluster. Shut it down and clone it as two new VM's called vm-knode1 and vm-knode2.

Each server needs its own hostname and IP address, so set these for the new VM's as described earlier i.e.

sudo hostnamectl set-hostname vm-knode1

nmcli connection modify {UUID} IPv4.address 192.168.50.71/24

As per the server requirements, each server must also have a unique:

  • MAC address (run ip link)
  • product_uuid (check /sys/class/dmi/id/product_uuid)

In the past, VMware Workstation would sometimes create cloned VM's with the same values for these, but as of Workstation 15, it doesn't seem to be a problem any more (but you should still check).

Have your say
