Yes, ChannelMaintenance is a hack to work around the problem of not being able to select and edit multiple channels at the same time (which will be coming soon).
If I need to make mass updates, I write a little Python script to hack the channel config files
They're just INI files and that's all ChannelMaintenance is doing. If you (or anyone else) like to do a bit of hobby programming, it would be easy to write a little VB or .NET app to do it a bit better than ChannelMaintenance.

Sync will only work between the same versions of Awasu (ignoring alphas). So you can't go from 2.0.3 to 2.0.4.alpha1 but 2.0.4.alpha1 to 2.0.4.alpha2 is OK. However, this check can be disabled - I'll post something in the testers forum.

Why not? Everyone else is.
