How to display threads (i.e. group like a newsreader)?

Post by Nev » Mon Dec 19, 2005 11:03 am

Is there a way to view feed items [content] in a "thread" type format?

For example, I have a channel returning results from a newsgroup like this one:

http://groups.google.co.uk/group/microsoft.public.office/feed/rss_v2_0_topics.xml?num=50

Rather than see the content presented as continuous list, I would like to see it in a thread format (e.g. with a + sign next to the thread).

I am wondering if there is a "group by subjectline" (or similar) option somewhere?

Thanks,
Nev

This is a bit of an unusual use for RSS so it's not something we specifically support. You might be able to do something funky using XSLT to transform the XML feed into a threaded HTML page. We'll be adding some features soon to make it easier to use XSLT to format the page layouts.

Thanks for your reply.

I wasn't sure if perhaps this feature existed already & I was just not sure where to look.

I've no idea about XSLT, but will look out for the new features and give it a try.

Thanks,
