How to create a Search that is limited to a specific channel

I downloaded the latest version of Awasu Professional today (v2.2).

What I would like to do is create a search that only looks in a specific existing channel for the results of the search.

For example, I have a channel/feed that returns ALL jobs, but I want my search to only show me jobs that contain the phrase "Project Manager" or similar.

Is this possible? If so, how?

Thanks very much.

The Awasu search engine has always had a feature that lets you restrict search results by URL. However, I think it's not working properly right now and we don't have the time to look into at the moment.

However, this is a plugin that will let you filter a channel using keywords. One of our users has also offered to write an XSLT that will do the same thing if other people show an interest.

Fixing the search engine is on The List and we'll try to fix the problem soon... :whip:

Thanks very much for your swift reply.

I installed Python (v2.4.2) and the FilterFeedItems plugin you mentioned. However, the feed will not update and gives the following error:

error: Can't update the feed.
- XML parse failed (7:L3/C2): mismatched tag

I've spent hours on this, so would love to get it working if possible. I don't care/mind how this is achieved. i.e. I'm just hoping to get the the filter feed type functionality.

Any further ideas would be very welcome.

Can you post/email the URL of the feed you are trying to filter. Or if you don't want to do that, just send a copy of the channel's last XML feed.

Also, we need the settings you have configured the plugin with.

Just for completeness.......

I receieved some excellent support from Awasu (Taka) on this and it was resolved by installing the following Python Win32 Extensions.

Python Win32 Extensions

Download Source

It's necessary to make sure the correct version of the extensions are installed (i.e. to match the version of Python that's installed).

The filtered feed now works perfectly.
