Re: Single Summary Page of All Unread Items

G'day. My, you are a veritable fount of excellent ideas! I've been tossing around the idea of having a single master summary page for a while now but using it for offline reading is a way cool suggestion! I'll bump it up the to-do list It should be pretty easy to whip together something really basic...

Re: Browser buttons

- previous/next buttons to allow the news panel to go to the previous/next detail page without having to click in the headlines panel (better usability) Yep, this is on the way. There wil be menu options and hotkeys added but I suppose I can put some buttons on as well (I'm not a big mouse person )...

This is odd. Awasu uses IE to display HTML pages but that's it. It doesn't do anything funky with history lists or anything like that. I'll see what I can find. Please let me know if you notice anything else about this problem. [edit] I'm running almost the same setup as you - XP Pro and IE 6.0.2600...

This is weird. No-one has reported anything like this. Someone had a problem with their proxy and there may be similar issues if you are running a firewall (although most people seem to be able to run fine). Have a look at this thread: m Drop me a line at support@awasu.com and I'll try help you sort...

Ah. It is currently not possible to do this. Awasu will always show you everything contained in the feed, highlighting unread items. Feeds are supposed to contain a maximum of 15 items so showing them all is generally not a problem. If other people ask for it, I may add an option to hide items you h...

No worries :-)

I'm using a third party XMLparser and I'm surprised that it doesn't handle it. This will be fixed in the next beta.

[edit]
After poking around a bit in the XML spec, it seems that leading whitespace is not valid. You learn something new every day :-)

Oops. This is a problem with the character encoding the feeds uses. This is related to the language the document is in, special characters, etc. The feed is in windows-1252 (the Windows standard encoding) but the XML parser I'm using doesn't support it by default. Given that Awasu is a Windows app, ...

Re: Awasu fails to load an RSS feed without a useful error m

it would be nice if there was a more detailed error message Sorry for the inconvenience. This is definitely on the to-do list. The problem appears to be caused by the leading whitespace in your feed. I have to head out now and so don't have time to nail this one down exactly just now but try taking...

This is a bit of a fiddly problem. I'll see what I can do.

BTW, how're things in sunny Hong Kong? I was there from '96-'98 but I guess things have changed a bit since then :-)

Re: Notiification balloons refuse to go away

I suspect that I speak for many users when I say that I really don't want to be interrupted by Awasu to hear that it can't access a feed. Yep. Somebody else has already said the same thing and I have already put something in place. Notification balloons can now be in one of three states: enabled, e...

Re: deleting feeds

I feel stupid, but how do you delete the feeds that you don't want or that you have already read. Right-click on the channel in the My Channels window and choose "Delete channel" or use the File menu. I have several channels and I can see how it will feel up fast. Believe me, it will! I have about ...

RSS feeds are retrieved via HTTP over port 80.

Awasu will use Internet Explorer's proxy settings. Can you get the feeds from IE?

Re: Bug when feed title contains html tags

This is an error in the feed.

RSS is XML not HTML and so markup in the title is invalid. Data like this should be wrapped in a CDATA section.

It would be nice to work around this and be more lenient when parsing feeds but doing this will unfortunately cause problems further down the track.

This sounds like 1.0.1 has been installed without installing 1.0 first. Can I ask where you downloaded Awasu from? There is a problem with the listing at BetaNews where this information is not given. Unfortunately, they make it a bit hard to change a listing once you've submitted it. The solution is...

Re: Still doesn't work

Our Tomcat guru will be in touch with you shortly. In the meantime, could you send through a copy of the RSS feed you are trying to retrieve and the exact URL you are giving the Channel Wizard.

Thanks.
