Metadata modules

Many feed publishers are now embedding additional information in their feeds such as licensing details, geocodes or publisher-specific metadata which is simply ignored by most feed readers because they don't even realize it's there!

Metadata modules Metadata modules let Awasu extract this extra information out of a channel's feed and store it in the archive database. This information is then accessible along with all the other normal feed metadata and can be inserted in channel summary pages, reports, etc.

Info
You must have MXSML installed to use this feature.

Check out the Awasu Wiki for metadata modules you can download and use.

Configuring metadata modules From the Advanced page of the Program Options dialog, click on the Metadata modules button and choose which metadata modules you want Awasu to process.

Each metadata module will show any information it finds in the channel summary pages.

An example feed and screenshots of each metadata module in action can be found here.

More information

In its simplest form, metadata modules let Awasu recognize new microformats and other RSS extensions as they come out, without having to wait for Awasu to be updated to recognize them. Metadata modules for extensions currently in common use, such as slash:comments and wfw:commentRss, are installed as standard with Awasu.

However, there are much more powerful applications of metadata modules that open up some intriguing possibilities, especially in a corporate environment. While some feed readers have support built into them for the more popular RSS extensions, that's not much use if the one you want is not recognized or even worse, if the feed is using your own proprietary extensions since there's no way a third-party feed reader will be updated to recognized it.

Awasu offers an end-to-end means of transporting and processing your information:
